Again this year, we have a new Baseball Club of "Piratas del Caribe." in Austria. But in spite of the fact that the Club is integrated by some of former members of other baseball clubs, this new troop has a great potential and coming to feed the always growing demand and the interest by this sport. In this way Vienna, welcomes us all as a team. And we hope that we can continue fighting for the ideals that in baseball matter we pursue with this new team.
Since now, we expect the participation of all of us , not alone with our presence, but also with what better characterizes us as Latin Americans and gives happiness to this sport; our great charisma. ..!!! We see you at the field...

The excitement of the LLOst is still alive. After our 2 victories from the weekend, the first one on Saturday July 10th 2010 against the Vienna Bucks with a final scorer of 26 to 6 and the second one on Sunday July 11th 2010 against the Grasshopper of Traiskirchen 2 with an exciting final score of 12 to 13 at the eighth inning. With these 2 victories we have a sure pass to the League’s final.
In other encounters, our friends, the Red Devils (Alt Weitra) won the game against the Vienna Lawnmowers) with a final score 14 to 9 in eight innings. The Red Devils celebrated their first victory of this season. On the other hand in the group A of the LLOst, our comrades the Vienna Bulldogs, are maintaining their position of command in the "Group A" and behind are the St. Pölten Pirates. With our ticket to the “Final Four” the playoffs begins to take shade and we expect to see our rivals very soon.
Finally, an Umpires Association has been established. The objective is to improve the knowledge of the Umpires as well as the Scoring personnel. The Association will support the creation, exchange or acquisition of teams. The Association negotiates with suppliers in order to provide articles prices discount for Referees. Also, the Association has been created in order to help softball Umpires and Scoring personnel who offer their assistance. The creation of this Association is really helpful for the League and Clubs. The Association would be functioned independently and will not affect in any way the existing of the ABF Umpires and ABF Scoring Personnel guidelines. The membership is voluntary and doesn’t have any impact on the ABF license. The Association is also a member of the ABUA Umpires and Referees Amateur Association. This opens many other possibilities. Two new faces and one already known were invited to participate this year in the MLB Academy at Tyrrhenian, Italy. After Matthias Koppensteiner (2005/2007), Markus Efferdinger (2008) and Phillip Brenner (2009) were included in the roster, Claus and Clemens Seiser (Diving Ducks) and again Phillip Brenner (which plays in the Blue Bats this year) have been added this year as guests of the much known Mayor League Baseball Academy.
Moritz Hackl (Stock City Cubs) is preparing himself to be part of the Academy Roster in a near future. The European Mayor Academy League will take place between August 4th and 27th in Tyrrhenian, Italy. The Austrian invited players have confirmed their participation and they are impatiently waiting this adventure. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and make a good impression for the coaches and Scouts.
The weather has suspended the game against the Vienna Lawnmowers again! After an exhausting waiting time, to see if the weather conditions improved, the game was officially suspended. On another side, the battle-hardened Red Devils almost managed to dominate the Schwechat Brewers. The game’s final score was pretty closed: 19 vs. 17 for the Airport’s team. On Saturday the Grasshopper of Traiskirchen scored 17 vs. 10 against the Vienna Bucks. Everything happened on Hoppersfield and Traiskirchen’s field. After all these games, the white-green Bucks rise one step in the score-board but they maintain their distance from the leader, just like the Red Devils, who positioned themselves at 4.5 points from head of command. We will se what happen with the games this coming weekend....
The Federation Cup is a tournament in which all the clubs of baseball of Austria can participate. It will be played for the first time in the course of the season 2010. The period in which the encounters will be considered for the Cup is September 1st 2009 until August 31st 2010. The score system is composed by the results reached in the regular season, plus, any other game that inside this period the clubs manage to win. The regular League qualifying board does not have final effect inside the championship. The tournament has been planned only for Baseball, softball and other similar games are not included. The Tournament play-off consists by 4 teams. The Confederation Cup is not so strictly regulated as the championship or league tournaments. All games, series and tournaments that the baseball clubs manage to win will be count for the Federation Cup score..
This summer, the Austrian Federation of Baseball and Softball is pleased to inviting to all those interested in the world of Softball, in order to be part of the European Championship Female Softball Category Junior, to be held in Austria. This event will be carried from July 25th until July 31st 2010; in two fields (Spenadlwiese and Freudenau) located inside the Prater. The 17 participating teams, all of from different European countries, will be divided into four groups, where the home representation will be in the Group A. All information related to this Championship is already in the official webpage of the Tournament. In this page you can find, among others things, the games calendar, information for the subscriptions, participating details, etc. We invite to all to be part of this tournament of classic European Softball.
From July 23rd to August 1st; Stuttgart, Heidenheim and Neuenburg am Rhein, will be the Headquarters of the Baseball European 2010 (Baseball-Europameisterschaft 2010). 12 Teams will be divided in 2 large Groups. As usual, the Neatherland Team is the favorite to win the Tournament, but Italian and Germans have reinforced their teams with strong and very well qualified players. In less than 60 days, the Teams of Croatia and Great Britain would play the first game of this tournament that should begin around the 10:30 in the morning.
